Created by Fred Schwartz, M.D. Music composed and recorded by Burt Wolff and Joe Wolff.
Recommended by childbirth educators and infant development specialists.
TRANSITIONS (2 CD set) has been developed by physician, Dr. Fred Schwartz. Working with musicians Joe and Burt Wolff, Dr. Schwartz digitally sampled actual womb sounds and then tailored the sound frequencies to conform to the hearing discrimination of the newborn. By combining the womb sounds with soft, female vocal harmonies and other meditative sounds, Transitions creates a musical pattern that provides a soothing, sleep inducing environment for newborns, as well as a calming, almost hypnotic effect on mothers during labor and childbirth.
It's Designed to Help Ease Baby's First Transition...
Babies inside the womb can hear at least several months before they are born. The baby learns to adapt to mother's breathing, movements, her voice as she speaks or sings, and the rhythmic pulsation of the blood flow into the uterus and through the placenta. This pulsation becomes baby's constant companion during the entire fetal period. It's his safety.. his security. By recreating those sounds outside the womb, Transitions soothes crying babies and lulls most babies to sleep within minutes.
And to Reduce Mother's Stress As Well...
TRANSITIONS has been used in thousands of childbirth classes during relaxation and visualization exercises. Listening to Transitions during labor can acoustically change a cold, sterile hospital environment into one which is warmer and less threatening. The use of Transitions and other music is greatly encouraged to ease the birth process, Music has been shown to ease the pain of labor, decrease the amount of medication needed for pain, and speed up the birth process. By playing Transitions during childbirth, we also let the newborn know that he is being welcomed into a warm, loving, and familiar world,
Hospital Tested...
Since its introduction, TRANSITIONS has been used in hundreds of neonatal intensive care units to help recreate the intrauterine environment for critically ill premature babies. A study at a major hospital showed this recording to be effective in soothing these babies, and many responded with increased blood oxygen levels.
We hope you enjoy Transitions. While this music was designed especially for infants and mothers, it is also useful for anyone who needs to relax.
A portion of the proceeds from these CDs will go towards efforts to play this music to critically ill premature babies.
Please note: Any type of stimulation of critically ill premature infants needs to be closely monitored under medical supervision. Do not listen to while driving.
Executive producer: Fred J. Schwartz, M.D.
CDs contain womb sounds, expanded music tracks, a live female vocal performance, and the sound and rhythm of a pregnant woman breathing.
