Music, Guided Imagery, and visualizations to give mother and baby a healthier pregnancy and birth.
Dr. Fred Schwartz, Marian H. McDonald, BSN, RN, and Burt and Joe Wolff.
RTSC.
The Transitions MATERNAL
& FETAL WELLNESS
audiotape combines a narrative of guided imagery and visualizations
with Transitions Womb Sound Music. The need for this tape was realized
after seeing womb sound music help critically ill premature babies
by raising their oxygen levels, help them gain weight faster and
be discharged from the hospital sooner.
It has been medically proven that stress
reduction leads to a healthier pregnancy. Stress is well known
to be a major factor contributing to the risk of premature delivery.
Premature births are the major cause of mental and physical deficits
in children, and generate enormous costs to the health care system.
The MATERNAL
& FETAL WELLNESS Program
combines powerful relaxation techniques along with womb sounds and
music to foster increased bonding and a less stressful environment
for mother and her unborn child. Exposing the child to certain sounds
and music have been shown to affect the development of the brain,
both in the womb and all through childhood.
The project was the idea of Atlanta anesthesiologist Dr. Fred Schwartz,
who is recognized for developing the Transitions Womb Sound Music
Series. Dr. Schwartz, working with Marian H. McDonald, BSN, RN,
RTSC, and musicians/producers Burt and Joe Wolff, have created these
recordings, combining music with the womb sounds that have been
used worldwide to soothe babies and children and help them sleep.
